Clear data management

Raw data from various measurement systems can be quickly and easily imported. This data forms an immutable database. The derived data can then be edited and used as the basis for analyses and graphical representations.

Combined analysis of different parameters

It is possible to analyze multiple physiological parameters alongside one another. This can significantly improve the accuracy of endurance performance tests. Typically, two turn points and three phases are observed.

Visualization of energy supply

Both total energy expenditure and the dynamics of fat and carbohydrate metabolism can be clearly visualized. This provides valuable insights into training zones and the necessary energy intake.

Scientific basis of turnPOINT

In modern performance diagnostics, resting values, submaximal and maximal markers provide the basis for individualized training load management. These markers are determined by the behavior of physiological parameters during incremental exercise tests. Physiological parameters measured in such graded or ramp exercise tests exhibit two turn points and three phases. This three-phase model is considered the scientific standard (Binder et al., 2008, Mezzani et al., 2012):

The transitions between phases are referred to as thresholds or turn points. These are named in conjunction with the variable used for analysis. For instance, the turn points for ventilation are labelled VTP1 and VTP2, whereas those for heart rate are labelled HRTP1 and HRTP2 and those for lactate concentration are labelled LTP1 and LTP2.

The three-phase model is based on a concept outlined by Skinner & McLellan (1980) and the lactate shuttle theory of G. A. Brooks (1986), which describe three phases of energy supply. General

No software components of turnPOINT need to be installed locally on an end-user device. However, the latest version of a web browser is required to run turnPOINT.
turnPOINT cannot be used offline. In order to use turnPOINT, you need an internet connection and the latest version of a web browser.
Tests of test packages do not expire after a certain period of time. However, a valid contract must exist between the end user and eSystems Burgsteiner GmbH.

Tests

Data from the most common ECG monitoring systems, heart rate monitors and spirometry systems can be imported. The available import options are constantly being updated and expanded.
Tests can only be shared with users from the same institution. Different editing and data access rights can be assigned (e.g. read-only access to a pseudonymized test). A user can be a member of multiple institutions.
Existing data from various software products used for endurance performance diagnostics (proSport, Vienna CPX-Tool, etc.) can be imported. This data migration must be carried out by the turnPOINT technicians before using turnPOINT for the first time. The cost is based on the actual effort required.

Privacy Policy

The data managed by turnPOINT is stored exclusively on servers located within the European Union. Consequently, it is all subject to the European General Data Protection Regulation and protected on the server side in accordance with DIN ISO/IEC 27001.
Personal data is encrypted directly within the database using state-of-the-art cryptographic algorithms. Without the corresponding key, which only the user possesses, the test data cannot be linked to any specific person. This ensures that only the key holder can access the relevant personal data record after entering a password or completing two-factor authentication (2FA) during login.
User accounts can be protected using two-factor authentication (2FA). This requires either installing an authenticator app (e.g. MS Authenticator) on a smartphone or receiving the 2FA-Token via email.
Both individual tests and the entire institution database can be saved locally. Users with administrator rights for a given test can back up that test, while the institution’s administrator can back up the entire database.
Personal data can be pseudonymized or anonymized in the system at any time. Pseudonymized individuals are assigned a pseudonym and remain in the system under that pseudonym. Anonymized tests cannot be linked to any individual or code. Therefore, anonymization is irreversible.
